About Industrial Images

This is my lil space on the web for my personal photography. They are not all meant to be masterpieces. They are just some that I have shot for myself when I get an idea in my head that I have to shoot. Out takes of other projects. Personal works. Vacation photographs. Images from old shoots. Or just an idea I am working on but may not have complete yet, but want to share the idea or concept. In any case, enjoy what I have here!

The Garden of Eden….Or… Plants in the lobby

July 1st, 2010

Another shot in the Lobby of the Resort.  The glass wall runs up 7 stories. Because of a layer of dirt, it helps to diffuse the light a lot, creating some nice light at the right time of day.

The Watcher

June 30th, 2010

This bird is on top of one of the castles in the kids water play area at the resort we stayed at. When it first caught my eye, I thought it was real. Not that it is very realistic. But because a real bird was there with it. The real bird flew away by the time I got my camera up.

Kirsten Getting ready to go down the water slide in the kids area.

Steady on her feet

June 25th, 2010

We stopped for lunch at a rather nice restaurant in the middle of a poor section of Mexico. They provided a show of traditional dances. It was not overly exciting, but when they started with the bottles on the heads it perked my interest. Mainly for the same reason NASCAR has so many fans. Its not the dance/race…. its the crashes! But they have mastered this! The bottle did not even so much as wiggle. Very impressive.

Accidental Softbox

June 23rd, 2010

We were waiting for one of the resorts restaurants to open. This is the entrance area to that restaurant. We had first seating so the lights were not turned in yet. We decided to take some pictures while we waited. The entrance hallway is about 12 foot wide. And almost everything out side the door is a sand color. And with the sun shining rather intensely, the glass, basically turned into a 8 foot by 12 foot softbox. It gave some beautiful light. Just had to balance the color, and done.

La Isla at Night

June 18th, 2010

OK, last one from La Isla. This place takes on a whole other feeling at night. During the day it is just kinda cool. But at night it takes on the air of a trendy hot spot. It is like two entirely different places.  Not may places I know of can pull it off as well as La Isla.

Evening Sky

June 16th, 2010

Another Shot taken at La Isla in Cancun. The sky was rather unremarkable that night until about 5 minutes before sunset. The clouds that created an overcast to the sky broke up rather quickly. And only the higher clouds remained. With the sun so low in the sky. The lower half of the clouds were in shade. But the upper half were still in bight sun.

Hotel Abstract

June 15th, 2010

The hotel we stayed in is an interesting building. It is basically 3 quarter circles. With one of them wider than the others to accommodate a lobby, restaurant, bar, and a pool. We walk past this view each time we go to the room.  I knew there was something there. Just not sure I get it or not.

La Isla

June 13th, 2010

This is a shopping area in Cancun. It has a nice design to it. It is outdoors, but parts have a canvas “roof” to keep the sun from being to strong. You can see them in the background.  Other areas, like the foreground, are open to the sky. There is boat rides available to ride down the canal.

Cancun Getaway

We took a trip to Cancun Mexico. The resort next door looked to be abandoned half way through a renovation. But I love how the buildings looked thrown together. And how some have domes on the top floor. I would have loved to go and shoot for a few hours there and grab some images. But I didn’t know if it was being guarded or not. Or what might happen if I was caught on the property.  So I left it alone.
